Green Bay Packers @ Arizona Cardinals
Josh Jacobs Hang 2 TDS, Disaul the two-3
GLENDALE, Ind.- The road trip did not take a few hours from the 10th of Sunday.
Thanks in large part to Josh Jacobs and Micah Parsons, what could have been a disappointing weekend was a happy ending.
Jacobs ran for the go-ahead, 1-yard touchdown with 1:50 left, Parsons had three top-sacks and a sack from the first down to beat the Arizona Cardinals 27-23.
“From the moment we hit the road, nothing seemed to go right,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said."So in the game, a lot of things didn't go right. But the guys kept fighting, and that's what it takes in this league."
Green Bay (4-1-1) battled through a rebellious first half to win its first game of the season. The Packers had plenty of problems before the explosion -- the team's trip was delayed about five hours Saturday because of technical problems with their plane in Wisconsin.
Parsons said the team spent a lot of time playing cards and bonds. That camaraderie came into play Sunday.
As long as we've been with each other, we're straight. The way we were together was wonderful."
Arizona (2-5) had a chance to win the game on its final offensive drive, but Jacoby Brissett's fourth pass was picked off in the end zone with 6 seconds left in the game.Brissett — filling in for the injured Kyler Murray — threw for 279 yards and two touchdowns.
"I've got to do a better job at the end of the game and make the right decisions," Brissett said."There are throws that could change the outcome of this game."
The Cardinals will have lost five consecutive points by a total of 13 points. They are only the third NFL team to lose five consecutive games by four points or less, joining the 2017 San Francisco 49ers and the 1984 Cleveland Browns.
Jacobs was ruled out for the game with a calf injury, but had his third straight two-touchdown game.He finished with 55 yards and also had a seven-yard touchdown run in the third quarter.
"Josh is a dog," Packers running back Jordan Love said."He's one of those guys that you know you're going to give it your all every time. He loves the game. He finds a way to make plays and put the team on his back."
Love completed 19 29 passes for 179 touchdowns.
Padres finished with three sacks, four tackles for loss and five quarterback hurries, making life difficult for Brissett all afternoon. The two-time All-Pro had a critical sack on the final drive and said he was surprised to have so many one-on-one opportunities to make plays in the backfield.
"When we get the looks, we have to take advantage of them," Woods said.
The Cards had the ball and led 23-20 with 5:58 remaining, but Brissett made a stop on fourth-and-1 with the ball pointing at the Arizona 48.
Green Bay went down methodically -- converting a crucial fourth-and-2 pass to Tucker Craft -- before Jacobs caught it for a 1-yard touchdown on the 10th.
Cardinals tight end Trey McBride caught two touchdown passes, including a 12-yarder that made it 20-13 with 4:17 left in the third quarter.
