Todd Howard also said that this upcoming RPG is a return to Bethesda's 'classic' RPG formula
In a new interview with Kinda Funny Games, Bethesda Creative Director Todd Howard explained that The Elder Scrolls 6 is a return to the games the studio is known for and will be powered by a new version of Bethesda's Creation Engine.
In a live interview on February 18, Howard admitted to host Greg Miller that Starfield and Fallout 76 left fans of open-world RPGs "expecting" them. And Elder Books 6, they seem to be going back to that "normal" style.
"In many ways, Fallout 76 and Starfield are a bit of a creative departure from the classic Elder Scrolls, Fallout, where you explore the world in a certain way," Howard said.
"As we go back to Elder Scrolls 6, which we're doing now, we're also going back to that classic style that we miss, that we know really well."
"We have a game style that people expect from us, where there's still a lot of innovation to be done, so when you step into a world it feels like you're experiencing it for the first time," Howard said.
"We're happy with where [Elder Scrolls 6] is going now."
Howard also said that Miller has been working diligently to update his internal equipment, which is the strength of past games, to help more with the major cards 6 and future games.
"We've spent the last few years bringing Creation Engine 2, which powers Starfield, to Creation Engine 3, which will power Elder Scrolls 6 and beyond."
As for when to expect Elder Scrolls 6, which has been announced for the past six years, Howard was cagey as expected, saying that the team is close to a "major milestone" and that while development is well underway, the RPG is still "a while away" before it's finished.
