This is the only constant change in the league

I think after Monday Spoff will go to Dallas and Wes will go to Miami.Or vice versa?Or are they expecting you two to fill in at quarterback?Monday's good grief was a tough one for fans.
The Dolphins couldn't offer Wes enough money.

I don't understand why the NFL has this "legal change" period. If trades were announced within one hour of the start of the period, then the discussions must have taken place before the start of the handling period.Am I missing something?
My famous comment on this topic last week?

Explain to me how you feel about all the changes the are going through, with many more to come, despite all the whining to stay the course.
Who complains about attendance? It's been a few days, but this doesn't feel unusual to me, to be honest.Maybe more movement with Green Bay's veteran players than a few years ago, but nothing crazy. At least not yet.The only constant in this league is change.

With free agency decisions and trades quickly approaching, how does the team view its defensive priorities for the draft and other free agency? It feels like defense will once again be a high draft priority.
With the departures of Rashaan Geary, Kingsley Inagbare and Colby Wooden, the spotlight shines even brighter on the defensive line from here on out.Stay tuned, I guess.

If the reports are correct, the seemingly cap casualty fourth rounder seems like a good trade.
Very good management

In a few months the Cowboys acquired two of our first round picks and two of our first round picks. What is the impact of the Gary Russian trade?
Trading Gary and releasing Jenkins freed up about $30 million in cap space.More on Gary in a moment, but here's what I can say about Jenkins: He was an exceptional player (if not better) for his ability to line up anywhere up front and reliably play well, and he didn't always look down and criticize himself when things on the O-line went wrong.Respect to Big E, coming off a serious injury last year.I hope he makes a full recovery.

Pre-draft projections rarely seem to match up with subsequent performance, but it seems they did with Gary.At the time of the draft, it was said that Michigan's production never matched his potential, and pundits wondered if the same would happen in the pros.I would say that happened during his time in Green Bay.
For whatever reason, Gary was both a hot and a cold player, and when he was hot, he was borderline hot, but he could never keep up.He had a monster game in 2021 and then had six sacks in the first six games of 2022, but was injured three games later and missed the rest of the year.He had two three-sack games in 2023, but only three-sack games in other games. All in all.He has 5½ sacks through November of 2024 (plus another in the playoffs), but only had two sacks in September and October of that year.He had 7½ sacks in the first seven games of last season, then none the rest of the season. The salary sometimes matched his production, but at that time it was not enough.I'm not surprised by this move.

When I saw Rashan Gary being traded I was very upset and asked why.The best reason for trading I've read is to save money.I understand this is business, but as a fan I don't see how taking the 2027 draft to pay for the field this year helps. Can you help me find the light?
Cap savings would allow other players to be pursued or re-signed or extended, and a 27th fourth-round pick could be part of stock development in the middle rounds next year with Green Bay's expected selections.Alternatively, he could be a backup for the national team that could be lost if he signs an OFA contract in the coming days.

Masterful work by Gutey to save a mid-draft pick on a player we should have cut. We can have a lot of third and fourth boats. Lots of flexibility. I like it.
If none of these comp picks make the cut, the possibilities in next year's draft become very interesting.
Robbie from Hingham, MA
With a plethora of compensatory picks likely coming up for the 2027 draft (Malik Willis, Quay Walker, etc.), what are the odds that Gutey trades some of next year's cap to acquire more picks for this year's draft?A "win now" mentality must be maintained in all aspects of player acquisition.
We will see.But next year is not sold until they are rewarded next spring, so any trading of future selections includes "regular" selections next year. Also, comp selection occurs at the end of each round, so the normal selection in that round is always better and the comp selection is a bit unpredictable and changeable. This year is projected to get two out of seven, but with some late calculation adjustments, the league has only finished one.

I couldn't be happier for Malik Willis, could I?A $45 million guarantee from Miami?I hope he kills it in the AFC East!
Except, of course, when he returns to Lambeau next fall, huh.Happy for Willis. He is getting the opportunity he has worked for and deserves. It seemed like a distinct possibility when both Sullivan and Hafley landed in Miami, and it happened. It's also a no-deal for the Dolphins, who have issues with the dead money Axe.

With Malik Willis gone, do you think a backup QB is on the roster?Do we need someone with experience in that space? We've learned the last two years how important the fill-in quarterback is.Is MLF a good place to put the work in the hands of a child?
I don't know the answer to any of your questions.I think it's important to note that Willis didn't arrive in Green Bay until week 1 in 2024 as the backup QB.
On Saturday, March 7, 2026, the Don Hutson Center in Green Bay held Girls' Flag College Tabs, where high school athletes could participate in professional training in front of college coaches.

Good morning, Mike. With the No. 2 jersey out of the question, can Matthew Golden make another change?
He could change anytime, but I don't know if he's interested in buying all the #0 uniforms.

Of all the roster moves, is it true that Jordan Love is now the oldest player?

Good Morning! So happy for Eric Stokes.Best guy out there.GPG!
Congratulations Eric.As I said yesterdayIt's crazy how things sometimes work out.It can become like this.He has the opportunity to start a new career and make it work in exchange for money.

I know he is a more talented player, but seeing Linderbaum's 3-year, $81,000,000 deal with the Raiders makes me feel better about re-signing Sean Rhyan for $11 million per year. Yowzers.
Linderbaum's deal exceeded every expectation I've seen, and his high market may have boosted the entire position, but no other free agent position comes close to a $27 million APY.He topped the previous highest paid center, KC's Creed Humphrey ($18M APY), by 50%, which is insane.Either way, it's a nice bonus day for Ryan, who clearly has a lot of upside at this spot after his half season as a starter.

Have the Colts just set the market for re-signing Christian Watson with the contract for Pierce?
Maybe. Pierce's $29 million contract surprised me, for a guy who has never caught 50 in one season. He has averaged 21 yards per reception the past two years, which shows the price paid for explosive games. Watson's one-year extension to 2026 looks like a big future fee now.

Could you elaborate on how the bidding works? It sounds like a second round offer for Dallas Aubrey would match another team's offer or, if he loses, a second round pick. What's the downside? Why can't a team bid on every player to get something back immediately?
These "security" packages apply only to restricted free agents, players with three seasons under contract and those who are unrestricted (those who do not earn a four-year rookie contract that would result in a draft). Once the player completes four seasons and his contract expires, he becomes an unrestricted free agent and has no security provisions, other than the franchise and transfer marks. This has major economic implications.

It occurred to me that the resurrection happened in the early 1990s, not only when free agency was expanded, but also when the salary cap was established. Was the wealth of the NFL before the advent of the salary cap and free agency, and were they in the poor decades?Rich had no owner, but teams couldn't build players against him either. The understanding of the player was almost always with the one who took him down all his life.
The short answer is that they don't get involved because the entire franchise has no management, including a lot of non-football people who influence football decisions.Cliff's history compilation covers all of that. When the cap and free agency entered the picture together, the prevailing thought was that the cap would help, but free agency would hurt because Green Bay was not a destination for top talent.Reggie White changed that perception.

Here's a question for both of you.Which stadium (baseball or football) took your breath away when you walked in?Mine is Coors Field. When I walked in (street level) and saw the Rockies in the distance over center field, I froze and couldn't move until the people behind me got mad.A close second is Lambeau... the first time I walked on the field (during the stadium tour) I got choked up by him. There must have been dust in the air because my eyes were watering.
I can't take one or say I'm out of breath, but the best feeling I've ever had in a professional stadium for the first time was probably at Wrigley Field, just for the history and the emotion of it.Louis, Kansas City and Cincinnati. I've never been to Fenway in Boston, so one is still there. In soccer, I would say Seattle, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Minneapolis and LA (SOFA), and London (Tottenham) and Sao Paulo (Arena Corinthians).

Spof, I'll take you back to Friday's inbox. That same day, you mentioned how happy you are in your current role and how quickly you'll be running out of the house when your two-week break starts at the end of the month. While I understand both sides of this thought process, could you clarify what your readers may see as a completely different perspective?
The two week break in March is the only time of year I really take off. From August to January, it's six days a week (seven if you count travel days for road games), and while it's helpful to take a few days off here and there in the winter/spring, you still can't completely switch off.apart from all jokes about upcoming big news, I don't read a single Inbox, post anything on X/Twitter, answer a single email, edit a single article.I get caught up in March Madness and the start of the baseball season as a spectator without writing anything about it, and then I'm ready to get back to the project.I love my job, but it's also good to forget about it all for two weeks to focus on other things I see

I was at the World Series game between the Brewers and Cards when Joaquin Andujar was hit in the shin by a line drive.I was sitting a few rows above the third base dugout and could have sworn the impact sounded like a gunshot.I was very surprised to see him pitch in the last game of the series after that.
This pad from Andjouer's leg happened on my 10th birthday.I will never forget it, for many reasons.happy tuesday
