BMW has announced that it has created a unique, exclusive M3 Touring 24H' for this year's 24 Hours of Nurburgring.
The car, which was first teased on April Fool's Day last year, has the same technical underpinnings as the M4 GT3 Evo, but is derived from the basic body of the BMW M3 Touring. This means that this car is 20 centimeters longer and 32 millimeters taller than the M4 GT3 Evo, which won the Nürburgring 24 Hours last year.
The Yokohama Shod Car will compete in the SPX class, where it will face opposition from HWA's Restomod EVO.R, and will be driven by BMW M Motorsport factory drivers Jens Klingmann, Hugo de Wilde, Conor de Philippi and Neil Verhagen.
In preparation for the 24-hour race, the car will participate in three tests of the Nürburgring Langstrecken-Series.The M3 Touring 24H will start in NLS2 this weekend, before taking part in the Nürburgring 24H qualifiers in April.
For NLS events, the car will wear a livery that highlights social media comments about the initial April Fool's prank, with another special livery to follow at the 24 Hours.
Andreas Roos, head of BMW M Motorsport, said: "A project like the BMW M3 Touring 24H has never existed before at BMW M Motorsport. Many thanks to everyone who put their heart and soul into this unique car and brought it to life.
"I'm excited - and at the same time I'm sure our fans, who are never closer to us than at our second home at the Nürburgring, will be just as excited. I promise all the fans a great show and I'm looking forward to an event with superlatives."
Klingmann (pictured below) added: "This is a truly unique project that I'm very excited to be a part of. We took our fans' reactions to the April Fool's joke as an opportunity to really make the BMW M3 Touring 24H a reality."
"To be clear, the car started out as an April Fool's joke, but it has become a completely top-class and competitive race car. Our goal is to put on a great performance for the crowd at the Nürburgring and finish the race as early as possible. I believe we can achieve a great result."
The 2026 ADAC 24H Nürburgring will take place the weekend of 14-17 May 2026.
